Introduction The White Home Conference on Cravings, Nutrition, and Health– held in September 2022– renewed national attention and issued a call to action to end cravings and minimize the prevalence of chronic illness in the United States by 2030. Food is Medicine approaches that concentrate on incorporating constant access to diet- and nutrition- related resources are a crucial component to attain this goal. The techniques are increasingly present throughout lots of communities and systems. There’s also increasing federal financial investment and action to support Food is Medication techniques in a range of settings.
Building on this collective energy, the Department of Health and Human Provider (HHS) developed a Food is Medication effort in response to a congressionally moneyed effort in 2023. This congressional action directed the Secretary of HHS, in assessment with other federal agencies, to establish and execute a federal technique to reduce nutrition-related chronic illness and food insecurity to enhance health and racial equity in the United States. This includes diet-related research and programmatic efforts that will increase access to Food is Medication initiatives.Go to Food Is Medicine
