Joseph Sirven, M.D., Teacher of Neurology, Mayo Clinic: Mayo’s mission is about the client. The patient comes first. So the objective and research here is to advance how we can best help the patient, how to make sure the client precedes in care. So in lots of ways, it’s a cycle. It can start with as basic as a concept dealt with in a laboratory, brought to the patient bedside, and if everything goes right– and let’s state it’s valuable or advantageous– then caused as a standard approach. And I believe that is one of the special attributes of Mayo’s technique to research study– that patient-centeredness– that truly helps to put it in its own spotlight.
