Bee-movie night, Sun April 15th by: pokkeherrie -March 22nd, 2012 Sunday, 15th of April, 8pm Vanishing of the bees. Little bee.

Big story. Honeybees have been inexplicably vanishing throughout the world, actually vanishing from their hives.

Known as Nest Collapse Condition, this phenomenon has brought beekeepers to crisis in a market responsible for producing apples, broccoli, watermelon, onions, cherries and a hundred other fruits and vegetables. Business honeybee operations pollinate crops that make up one out of every three bites of food on our tables.

Disappearing of the Bees follows commercial beekeepers David Hackenberg and Dave Mendes as they aim to keep their bees healthy and satisfy pollination contracts across the U.S. The film explores the struggles they deal with as the 2 good friends plead their case on Capital Hill and take a trip throughout the Pacific Ocean in the quest to protect their honeybees.

Shooting across the US, in Europe, Australia and Asia, this documentary examines the worrying disappearance of honeybees and the higher meaning it holds about the relationship between humanity and environment. As researchers puzzle over the cause, organic beekeepers suggest alternative factors for this terrible loss. Clashing alternatives abound and after years of research, a conclusive response has actually not been found to this traumatic mystery.TRT 90 minutes
