- 6 c water
- 1 piece fresh ginger, peeled (roughly 5-6″ in length)
- 3 cinnamon sticks (or 1-2 tsp ground cinnamon)
- 1 tsp ground turmeric
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- 6 fresh lemons (and the juice of 1/2 fresh lemon when all set to serve)
- Peel the fresh ginger root and dice into thin slices.
- Integrate the fresh ginger slices and water in a large pot or pan over high heat on the range.
- Give a boil. Then turn to low heat and let simmer for around 10 minutes.
- After 10 minutes, include the cinnamon sticks (or ground cinnamon), turmeric and cayenne and simmer on low heat for another 10 minutes, stirring sometimes.
