This World Mental Health Day, WHO is uniting with partners to highlight the important connection between mental health and work. Safe, healthy working environments can serve as a protective aspect for psychological health. Unhealthy conditions consisting of preconception, discrimination, and exposure to threats like harassment and other poor working conditions, can posture considerable dangers, affecting psychological health, overall lifestyle and subsequently involvement or productivity at work. With 60% of the international population in work, urgent action is needed to ensure work prevents threats to psychological health and secures and supports mental health at work.It is essential for governments, employers, the companies which represent employees and employers, and other stakeholders responsible for workers’ health and safety to work together to enhance mental health at work. Action to deal with psychological health at work ought to be done with the meaningful involvement of employees and their agents, and individuals with lived experience of mental health conditions. By investing efforts and resources in evidence-based approaches and interventions at work, we can ensure that everybody has the opportunity to flourish at work and in life. Let’s do something about it today for a healthier future.
